Hi!

Before starting, I’d like to thank you for passing by and read my first ever blog post about photography!

Background

In this my first photography blog post, I’d like to leave you with my first attempts at photography as well as with my thoughts on what I think photography with a “real camera” is. As I stated in my about page, I never was into photography. My typical kind of “photography” was the “point-and-shoot” kind. The kind of photography you do with your smartphone – I’d call it snapshots – and because of that reason I had never seen the need of having a dedicated photo camera. But when I made the decision of buying a “real” camera – note, this is my first ever camera! – my vision about photography changed and after fiddling about with it for a while – days – I started looking at the camera as a tool for doing art – photography art – something that, I believe, is quite more difficult to achieve with a smartphone.

How I started

So, I started by reading about all the camera modes, watching YouTube videos about photography, experimenting at home with the several modes, and when I was more or less familiarized with the camera, I decided to go out and play. I arranged with a great friend of mine who is in photography for a long time now and we went on a night photo shoot session! I’d really like to start by experimenting night photography and long exposure. I have to say that I learned a lot from him in this our first photography night-out!

My first photo gallery

So, here are some of the results of our night out in Lisbon! The rest of the photos were already part of some solo adventures 🙂 For some of you, these photos might look very amateur, but aren’t we all born amateurs in everything that we do? So, now, here I am, starting a photography blog, where you’ll most probably see some of the most horrendous photos you’ve seen in your life but what the heck? I’ll leave you with some of my first shots – these are all in an urban environment and almost all black and white, because I prefer black and white when shooting urban. I hope you enjoy and that the future will bring some nice, well composed photos that I – and you? – can enjoy! We all learn from each other, so please leave your comments and suggestions! They will be much appreciated!

Enjoy!
Thank you for visiting.
